Capturing the Joy of Winter is a diverse collection of 16 pieces that celebrates the Winter season. They are written for the late intermediate to early advanced pianist, approximately Grades 4 to 6 ABRSM.
The book includes 8 pieces inspired by winter folk music from around the world, including a Nordic herding call, an ancient Chinese flute melody, an evocative Scottish winter song and a Welsh Winter Solstice song. The other 8 pieces are original compositions capturing some of our favourite aspects of winter; images of the natural world, romance, the comfort and cheer of good company! The pieces are wonderfully evocative, and it is again a delight to see how the two quite distinct voices of these composers complement each other so well, rounding out the collection.
